Women AirBorne!

Well, we've had our official first snowfall of the year.  It's only a couple inches but still...it's snow.  I'm staying in with the family today and while my daughter is napping I am catching up on some long overdue editing, Facebook posting and blogging! 

At the end of this summer I was fortunate enough to be able to take part in the Women AirBorne event that took place at Lyncrest airport, September 15, 2012.  264 women went up in 2-4 seat recreational air crafts!  It was a blast!  We broke the record for the most women airborne in one day.  It was such an amazing experience to be a part of.  I've never been in such a small airplane before.  The one we went up in was a 4 seat plane.  The take off and flight was good but the landing made my stomach flip a little.  It's amazing that the men and women who pilot the planes also built them.  I'm looking forward to going again next year for sure!

Summer of 2012 Part V

This concludes my 5 part Summer of 2012 series.  It makes me a little sad actually.  It was nice to hold onto for so long...but it's time to let go.  After all as The Bryds sang "To everything (turn, turn, turn), there is a season (turn, turn, turn)...and now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

The following pictures are of the moon, sun and sky. The moon shots were taken with my 55-250mm lens.  The other two were taken with my 18-55mm lens.  The first three moons shots were of the full moon that happened at the beginning of August.  The next two are blue moons pictures (the second full moon in August).  The last moon shot is a harvest moon in September.  I spotted it on our way home one evening and was hoping to catch it when it was bigger and lower in the sky but we didn't get home and to my camera quick enough.  I spent a lot of time shooting sunsets and full moons this summer, I just love the sky and how it's ever changing and so beautiful.

Summer of 2012 Part IV

This is the second last part of my Summer of 2012 series!  I feel like I'm so behind on my blog entries!  I have so many pictures to post in my queue.  It's so hard to believe that November snuck up on us so quickly.  Where did September and October go?  It's starting to get cold here in Winnipeg so it's nice to go through my summer photos and reminisce of warmer times.  

I took a trip to Vegas with a girlfriend of mine this past weekend and took my camera out one day to shoot the strip.  The rest of the time I used my iPhone or my little Canon Elph.  I'll be sharing some of these photos in upcoming blogs!  First I have to finish this summer series, then some autumn photos...then hopefully Vegas!  I need an assistant!!  :)

This series features some fun shots from our family trip to the Children's Museum at The Forks and then the trip I took Kaelynne on to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan August Long Weekend.

Summer of 2012 Part III

Welcome to Part III of my Summer of 2012 series!  This part of the series includes a little macro photography and a smokey sunset at Lac Du Bonnet.  Kaelynne and I were in Lac Du Bonnet in August at my friend Anne's family cabin (see Part II of the series).  The smoke slowly rolled in as the day went on and made for some really cool sunset shots with great colours.  This is the middle of my Summer of 2012 series!  I shot the following pictures with my 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses.  Two more parts of the summer series left, stay tuned.  :)

Summer of 2012 Part II



 

Even though the weather is cold, windy and wet outside (in Winnipeg anyway), I feel better taking a look back at these summer pictures!  Welcome to Part II of my Summer of 2012 series!  

 

I've had a high request for prints of some of the photo's I've been posting on my blog so I've decided to offer prints to those who are interested.  All of my photo's are professionally printed at Don's Photo here in Winnipeg.  Prints will come clean (without my watermark) but will be copyright protected on the back of the paper to ensure no copying is done.  Sizes range from 4"x6" to 20"x30".  I'm also able to get canvas prints sizes ranging from 16"x20" to 24"x36".  For a full size and price range and other order inquiries, please e-mail me at photographybyginalmayor@gmail.com.  The prints available are those of landscapes, scenery, flowers, animals, etc. but do not include those of people.  Thank you SO very much for your interest in my work!  I'm so blessed and am very grateful to you all for your support and love. 

 

Now, on with Part II of my summer photos!  The following photos were taken at Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba.  My friend Anne from work invited my family out to their cabin one weekend in August.  The weather was perfect.  They have a really cool cabin and a great spot of land out at the lake.  We had such a great time and are looking forward to going back again next summer!  It was a lot of fun to wander around and snap some pictures.  There will be more from my Lac Du Bonnet trip later on in my Summer of 2012 series so stay tuned for those!

Summer of 2012 Part I

I was a busy gal this summer!  This is part one of five... :)  Each part will have 8 photos and one will have 9.  The first part of my Summer of 2012 will include flowers.  Flowers are so beautiful, colourful and make for gorgeous photos.  I usually shoot my own flowers but this year with the move I didn't plant any flowers or buy any hanging baskets.  The flowers in this part of my summer adventures are from my husband's grandma and my mother in law's yards.  Next year I'll have flowers again and will definitely will be taking shots!  I played around with my different lenses and my favorite one to shoot flowers with is my telephoto.  The telephoto I have is the 55-250mm, it came with my camera.  I used it a lot this year for full moon, blue moon and sunset shots.  I love it!  Those will come up later in another part of my Summer of 2012 series.  My next telephoto lens is the 70-200mm but I'll have to save my pennies for a while to get it.  There are a couple landscape shots in this part as well.  Without further adieu here they are!  Enjoy.  :)
