2013 365 Challenge Week 16

Day 106 - April 16, 2013 - "Green"
One of our night lights.  The green glow.  LOL.

Day 107 - April 17, 2013 - "A Ball"
This ball was given to me from a friend for my 30th birthday last year.  I just love it and eventually it will hang in our kitchen window.

Day 108 - April 18, 2013 - "Your Wedding Picture"
My good friend Tara took drew this for Tyler and I for a wedding gift.  It's so beautiful and will eventually be put up on the wall where the stairs lead from the master bedroom to the 2nd floor.  

Day 109 - April 19, 2013 - "Blossom"
There were no blossoms outside at this time so I had to go to the next best thing.  These flowers were at a shower that I went to shoot for a friend of mine.  

Day 110 - April 20, 2013 - "A Musical Instrument"
Kaelynne got this recorder in a goodie bag from her friend Edwin's birthday party.  

Day 111 - April 21, 2013 - "A Tree"
Because we live in a new area, we do not have a lot of trees around.  This sad looking tree is at the end of our block which is as far as I was willing to go (it was still cold...I'm a baby remember) to get a tree shot.  We don't have any trees on our street yet.  

Day 112 - April 22, 2013 - "Side Light"
My little poser with her new kicks on!  I love the side light coming in from the bathroom window.  

2013 365 Challenge Week 15

Day 99 - April 9, 2013 - "Cheese"
This is a sandwich I made for myself.  It was as good as it looks.  :)  The cheese is a bit hidden but it's the bottom layer.  

Day 100 - April 9, 2013 - "Leading Lines"
I wanted to get this shot at the train tracks but it was still quite cold at this time so I just took this one out by a park near our house.  I'm learning more about leading lines right now and how to utilize them better!  I'm very excited to share more of those shots with you all later.  

Day 101 - April 10, 2013 - "Colour"
When Kaelynne wants to play with her blocks she dumps them all out of the bag and I just love how colourful they all are.  

Day 102 - April 12, 2013 - "What's For Dinner"
This is Eggplant Parmesan  one of my specialties.  It's SO good.  I meant to take a picture before we started eating it but hunger took priority before pictures apparently.  LOL!  Good thing there were a few left over.  

Day 103 - April 13, 2013 - "A Bench"
This is a bench.  LOL!  It's a bench that's in a park close to our house that we take Kaelynne to play in.  

Day 104 - April 13, 2013 - "Stairs"
We have a lot of stairs in our house, this is half of them.  Sugar is going down the first set, likely trying to escape.  

Day 105 - April 15, 2013 - "Siblings"
Kaelynne is looking at her baby brother's ultrasound pictures.  We're all looking forward to his arrival!!  

2013 365 Challenge Week 14

The more I think about editing and updating my blog the more I keep putting it off.  It's a vicious cycle!  I'm so behind on editing, updating and now even the taking of the pictures part.  I keep thinking, my maternity leave is coming up, I'll catch up then...oh procrastination!!  I also keep relying on the fact this this little guy coming is going to be the same as his big sister and sleep really well and be a great baby...that happens right??  

Day 92 - April 2, 2013 - "Real Life"
Playing around, tackling, tickling and having fun in our jammies.  A perfect way to share time in the morning.  :) 

Day 93 - April 3, 2013 -  "Rock"
The three rocks in the background were a 30th birthday gift from my cousin/best friend's little girl Jaelynn.  The two in the front are some new rocks that I bought at a metaphysical store recently.  I like rocks.  :)  My daughter has taken after me and collects all the rocks she can in her little bucket.  

Day 94 - April 4, 2013 - "Silence"
Sugar is a very vocal cat...my favorite thing for him to do is sleep, because he's quiet.  I just love how peaceful he looks...even if he drives me nuts.  :)

Day 95 - April 4, 2013 - "Circle"
My in laws gave us these pillows (they're from Ikea if you want to find some of your own) and I love them.  

Day 96 - April 6, 2013 - "Symmetrical"
I could not for the life of me find something symmetrical in our house to take a picture of and at this time it was still too cold for my pansy arse to be going outdoors to search.  Then I was washing my hands and saw the lights reflected in the mirror and then reflected in the faucet and realized...hey they're symmetrical!  That's my story.  So many reflecting qualities in this one!  

Day 97 - April 7, 2013 - "Something You Want"
Though this is pretty I wanted this to GO AWAY!  That's what I wanted at the time.  :)  It's since long gone...thankfully.  

Day 98 - April 8, 2013 - "Orange"
This lotion and soap set with holder was a house warming gift from close family friends.

Day 85 - March 26, 2013 - "Upside Down"
I asked Kaelynne to go upside down for Mummy and this is what she did.  I'm sure sure will appreciate this picture in a few years.  :)  Pretty good downward facing dog actually...may have to start taking her to yoga with me.  

Day 86 - March 27, 2013 - "Selfie"
This was taken with my Hipstamatic app on my iPhone 4S.  It's pretty "self" explanatory...LOL!

Day 87 - March 28, 2013 - "From The Side"
I think I was about 6 months pregnant in this picture...or close to it.  I've been taking weekly pictures and sending them to my sister.  I have no idea where this little guy is growing but it's not outward.  I think I looked like this at 4 months when I was pregnant with Kaelynne.  

Day 88 - March 29, 2013 - "In The Next Room"
I was sitting in my office and took this shot of the next room which happens to be the living room.  Tyler was watching TV and Kaelynne was making a mess...I mean playing.  :)

Day 89 - March 30, 2013 - "Coin"
I collect US coin for when we go down to the states.  This was left over from Vegas.  If I lived closer to my parents I would've went over and shot some of my Dad's coin collection...but I don't so US coin it was!  

Day 90 - March 31, 2013 - "Easter"
This is the cake I baked for Easter dinner. Kaelynne wanted to pose with it, and again, who am I to argue with a 2.5 year old?  LOL!  She was so excited "HAPPY EASTERRRRRRR".  Very cute.  :)

Day 91 - April 1, 2013 - "A Silhouette"
Sugar was the only one who would pose for this shot for me.  It wasn't the exact shot I was wanting but it wasn't sunny enough and Sugar wouldn't sit long enough so this was it.  It was taken with my Hipstamatic app on my phone because I didn't have time to run and get my camera.  Sometimes it's just so much easier to take pictures with you phone!  :)

2013 365 Challenge Week 12

Day 78 - March 19, 2013 - "Happy"
I really dislike the shadow in this picture however Kaelynne insisted I use the pop-up flash...who am I to argue with a 2.5 year old?  There are actually a lot of things I don't like about this picture, but it depicts exactly what the topic was, Happy!  And...Kaelynne looks so dang cute, so I went with it.  LOL  :)

Day 79 - March 19, 2013 - "Cake"
There are actually two "Cake" shots in the week.  Not sure if it was a mistake on the CMP end when they came up with the shots for the week but again, who am I to argue??  This cake was made for two good friends of mine who celebrated their birthday together.  I got the idea from my lovely cousin and best friend Kristy...we're no longer friends.  LOL!  Just kidding.  It was a lot of work though.  I decided to make it completely from scratch with the recipe that is on the Whisk Kid blog.  http://www.whisk-kid.com/2009/08/say-it-with-cake.html  It turned out really well but next time I will cheat and use white cake mix and my own icing recipe.  This cake is SO much fun though, who doesn't love a rainbow??

Day 80 - March 21, 2013 - "Friendship"
This is Xander and Kaelynne.  They go to daycare together and are such great friends.  Tyler and I are good friends with Xander's parents.  Xander came over for his 3 year photo shoot and afterwards had some play time with Kaelynne so I made sure to get this shot while he was over.  Can't wait to show this to them when they're older.  Maybe even at their wedding...I cannot confirm or deny that there is an arranged marriage here.  LOL!

Day 81 - March 22, 2013 - "Glitter"
This is a little note pad with glitter butterflies on it that was given to me as part of a Christmas gift from my Executive Director at work.  I think it's so cute and I love it.  

Day 82 - March 23, 2013 - "Cake"
I didn't lie about this...there really were two "Cake" topics this week.  This is a cake I baked and decorated for Easter dinner at Tyler's Grandma's house.  Inside this lovely creation is a polka dot cake which was also an idea from my lovely cousin and best friend Kristy...see we really are still friends!  I used a white cake mix instead of making it from scratch.  I think it turned out pretty well for my first time decorating a cake with an icing kit!  I may be nesting...just tad.  ;)

Day 83 - March 24, 2013 - "Celebrate"
From left to right this is Me (Gina L. Mayor), and my two wonderful friends Elizabeth and Gina.  We went out for a girls night to Celebrations Dinner Theatre.  We had such a great time, lots of laughs were had that night.  I obviously didn't take this picture, our waiter did...who happens to be a friend of mine that I went to broadcasting school with.  Thanks Barney!

Day 84 - March 25, 2013 - "Your Child's Favorite"
This is Kaelynne's favorite toy.  She loves Tato Head.  She's one of my favorites too. :)

Day 71 - March 12, 2013 - "First Picture on Your Camera Roll"
I haven't cleared my memory card for a little while.  This is the first picture that was on there though.  I took this one blistery February day when I was out shooting for my challenge.  This is at a park near our house.  

Day 72 - March 13, 2013 - "Window Light"
We have a lot of awesome natural light in our house.  It's one of the things that caught my, and Tyler's, eye when we were looking at show homes.  This is taken from the landing to our room looking into our front sitting room.

Day 73 - March 14, 2013 - "Your Kitchen"
I was busily baking one day and happened to be drying the mixing bowl, saw this shot and took advantage of it.  

Day 74 - "March 15, 2013 - Music
Elmo rocking out.  Too bad his batteries died not long ago...really, it's a shame...LOL!

Day 75 - March 16, 2013 - "Typography"
This is a mural at the entrance of where I work.  I've always loved it and took this opportunity to photograph it finally.  

Day 76 - March 17, 2013 - "Lucky"
My friend Elizabeth at work made these for St. Patrick's Day!  They were very yummy.  Love the Lucky Charms!

Day 77 - March 18, 2013 - "Five"
This is from one of Kaelynne's colouring books.  Not the shot I had in mind for this one but it was too damn cold outside to get the one I wanted to I slacked and did this one instead.

Day 64 - March 5, 2013 - "2 P.M."
Enjoying a decaf coffee out of my Starbucks mug that a coworker brought back for me from Pike Peer in Seattle, the original Starbucks!  Thanks Sukhy!

Day 65 - March 6, 2013 - "Wash-n-Dry"
This is pretty self explanatory.  Haha.

Day 66 - March 7, 2013 - "Collection"
This here my friends is my ever growing camera collection.  The two camera's on the left are film cameras.  It's so nice to shoot film again!  

Day 67 - March 8, 2013 - 'Shoot From a Chair"
This is from one of our chairs in our living room.  Riveting, I know!  ;)

Day 68 - March 9, 2013 - "People Watching"
This shot was taken from the 4th floor of Portage Place Mall.  I like to stand up there and people watch while I wait for my friends to meet me to go to the gym.  

Day 69 - March 10, 2013 - "Still Life"
This one was a little tough because when I think of the paintings of fruits and vegetables when I was taking art courses.  I didn't want to do that so instead I took this shot.  I've had these three bottles for along time.  They're on our windowsill in our kitchen and I just love them.

Day 70 - March 11, 2013 - "Your Alarm Clock"
My Dad bought this alarm clock for me a few years ago when my family was here for Christmas.  We went boxing day shopping and these babies were on sale at Radio Shack!  This one has served me well but I'm in the market for a smaller one currently.  This may  be handed down to Kaelynne to play her little CD's soon.

2013 365 Challenge Week 9

It's been a whirlwind these past few weeks.  Where does the time go?  Seriously!  Well there was a time change just a few weeks ago so that's where some of the time went.  So much has gone on since my last post.  My husband and I enrolled our daughter in Nursery School and she starts this Fall...again, where is the time going?  It's so hard to believe she will be three this year.  My Mum was here for a visit from Saskatchewan.  It's always hard to have her leave.  I keep trying to convince her to retire and move to Winnipeg...she isn't really into that idea much though.  LOL!  I baked a rainbow cake, which you will see in Week 12's post.  My cousin Kristy baked it for her daughters birthday and then I decided that I wanted to try this rainbow cake out myself because it looks SO good.  My friends Elaine and Jen had a birthday party last weekend and I decided I would make that for them!  If you're interested in checking it out, do so here at http://www.whisk-kid.com/2009/08/say-it-with-cake.html  
I'm now over 5 1/2 months pregnant as well, which means 3 1/2 more to go!  Yet again, where the heck is the time going??  Okay enough with the chit chat, on with the photos!  Right after this I will be posting Week 10 as well.  :)

Day 57 - February 26, 2013 - "Loud"
Kaelynne and I were waiting in the car for Tyler and Scream & Shout came on the radio.  It's Kaelynne and Tyler's jam.  She was singing it at the top of her lungs.  

Day 58 - February 27, 2013 - "A Stranger"
I wasn't comfortable taking pictures of strangers to then later post on my blog so I decided to take a shot of the backs of their heads instead.  This is my bus ride home from work.  I'm happy with the way this turned out actually.  I was stressing about this shot!

Day 59 - February 28, 2013 - "What You're Wearing Today"
I set up my tripod for this one and shot it in my studio.  It's hard to take a picture when you can't see through the lens!  Pants, Thyme Maternity.  Shirt, H&M Mama maternity line.  Scarf, Le Chateau.  So fashionable!  LOL.

Day 60 - March 1, 2013 - "Peace"
Luckily I still had my sister in law's Christmas card around...it's since been sent just so you know!  I was waiting on some pictures to be printed and then I asked her to pick me up some maternity clothes from H&M so I waited for them to be shipped so I could send her a cheque.  Procrastination much?   

Day 61 - March 2, 2013 - "A Natural Frame"
My original plan for this shot was to go for a walk in a park to get a cool tree frame of something but then it got really bloody cold again so that was out of the question.  Remember, winter and I do not get along...at all.  Instead I went upstairs to grab something from our bedroom and saw Sugar laying in the sunlight cleaning his paw.  I ran and grabbed my camera and captured this nice warm, sunny inside shot!

Day 62 - March 3, 2013 - "Town"
Again, I was thinking about driving out to a little town just outside of Winnipeg to get this shot but the weather was too cold.  I really do live in the wrong country!  Why go to a town when you can make a nice, warm, cozy one indoors?  :)  Kaelynne calls these "my people".  "Mommy, where's my people?"  Hehe. 

Day 63 - March 4, 2013 - "Comfy"
Sugar was all curled up on the couch and I thought, aww, he looks so comfy...hey wait a minute!  I'm not much of a cat person but he came with  my husband so I've learned to tolerate him.  I do have to admit, he's fun to photograph and he's very cute.
